Brief Requirement Uploaded

Hi guys, i have just uploaded the requirement document in file exchange (blackboard), which we collected from the meeting with client, you guys can have a look at it.
We will print this out and bring it to the meeting with Tanya on monday, 10.30am (is it?) and we can ask her more about the system.

@Andrew : can you prepare the requirement document template, we will be able to put all information in faster later on.

@Kevin: can you print this requirement doc out and bring to the meeting with Tanya.

Everyone wanna come to meet Tanya please confirm and make sure you have prepared some questions to ask her(excluding the information has been provided). Please meet up about half an hour before the meeting, we can arrange who will do what.

After we get the requirement from Tanya, we will make a brief formal requirement document and send it back to Tanya and Grey to confirm, they can add in more things they need, once they confirm, we will produce the requirement document (which will be submitted).

I will produce a draft development plan and bring it to the meeting to morrow on Monday.

Things need to be done next (in meeting on Monday)
  • Decide the software development model
  • Estimate the scope of the project
  • Analyze our gap (knowledge gap, technology gap, skill gap).
  • Arrange work for everyone.
  • Decide milestone and time frame to finish project
  • Prepare legal document
  • Others...

Thanks guys. Any thought ?

just some opinions

1. CMS system that they use should be joomlaM not zoomla

2. client didnt really mention that he need comments function for photos, did he?

3. regarding the lost password function, if email is optional, how does it operate? did the client ask for it? if not i suggest removing lost password function.

4. installation: from my understanding, if we are able to set it up with the vicnet we wouldnt need a package install from cd.

more on installation and installation guide:
i think the client wants it to be able to be installed with a cd + a guide, in case we can't deal with Vicnet and sort it out.

Is it easy/possible to do this? if not we need to tell the client that it cant be done.

Anyway, it seems that all the required software are installed and running, so we wouldnt need any installation cd/guide.

1. i heard he did say about the comment for picture.

2. password lost function should be implemented, the email option is: "user have the choice to show their email or not", but they have to have valid email address to signup

have no idea about installation, will need to confirm later

Some random thoughts about the requirement:

- 60 users, that is a fair amount of users. The site is gonna be busy, because it deals with images, unless they wanna host the images in another server (not likely)

- I reakon they pick the right application. My 1st thought when I heard about they need CMS and images galerry is Joomla, too.

- 4 pictures per row. Not really a good idea, the number of images per row should depend on how wide the browser is.

- To my best knowledge, understanding about database in this project is minimal.

- The user & pass for admin dont look good. Shouldnt be the same and guessable.

- I dont get the idea of installation CD. What do they really wanna install?

- Password recovery is definitely needed to be implement. They are elderly and they can forget the password any time.

- If the client really needs the comment feature on image, that would be fine. I think Joomla supports it out of the box.
